Curling is a sport where team of four throw stones across a pebbly watered down sheet of ice. This sport first originated in in late medieval Scotland, the idea was created through the game of golf. When curling was first played they used giant river stones instead of the concrete ones we have today, before they used brass handles instead of the metal ones we have today. Curling has two nicknames "chess on ice", and "the roaring game". It was called the roaring game due to the sound that appears from the stones sliding across the ice, chess on ice was originated due to the way the game is played. Evidence that curling existed in in the early 16th century in Scotland is that a curling stone was inscribed with the date 1511, uncovered with another one with the date 1551. As a four person team sport you need to have a lot of teamwork, and there is a lot of competition.
